Eating Disorders Program - Adult - Vancouver

Provided by Vancouver Coastal Health

Serves people who have Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Eating Disorders not otherwise specified (but not binge-eating disorder). For adults living in VCH catchment (with the exception of Richmond).
Provides client-centred care that empowers individuals and families to take responsibility for the recovery process from eating disorders to enhance their quality of life. The team includes therapists, outreach counsellors, physicians, a dietitian, nurses, and a psychiatrist.
The Eating Disorders program is group therapy based; patients must be willing to work in a group setting. Services are free of charge, and treatment options include:
  • Group work
  • Family and friends support group
  • Nutritional
  • Specialized medical care (consultation) and limited psychiatric support
  • Recreation therapy and outreach

The team includes:
  • Therapists
  • Outreach counsellors
  • Dietitian
  • Nurse
  • Physicians (consult only)
  • Psychiatrist (consult only, no follow up)
  • Recreation therapist

Consultation and education are also available to community agencies and professionals to promote awareness and early intervention.

Eligibility: Adults (19+) living in Vancouver, North Shore, Sunshine Coast and Sea to Sky.
DOES NOT PROVIDE URGENT CARE. NURSES WILL OFFER CONSULTATION AND DIRECTION TO PCP AS APPROPRIATE.
